Audit Logs

Track, query, and export changes to your data, metadata, and security provisioning over time. The Audit Logs feature acts as your Oracle EPM DVR.

Data Audit

The Data Audit allows you to see every change made to a specific cell or region of your Essbase cube or Planning application.

You can see:

  • Who changed the cell.
  • The original (old) value.
  • The new value.
  • The exact timestamp of the change.

Metadata Audit

Track changes made to your dimension hierarchies. The Metadata Audit shows you when a member was added, moved, deleted, or had its properties modified. You can filter the audit trail by dimension, operation type, or the user who executed the metadata update.

Security Audit

View all historical security provisioning events. This log answers questions like "Who granted John Doe access to the Finance application?" or "When was the consultant removed from the Power User group?"

How the history is kept

Audit Logs is built on an incremental audit store — a compressed local history with a retention watermark:

  • Delta sync — each load fetches only the bucket that is missing and serves the rest locally, so re-opening the window does not re-download the month.
  • One store, three consumers — the same history feeds the Performance Investigator and the Audit Records report module.
  • Record-field filters on the grid, with a Load button on the filter row, and a chat over the records that works within a fixed context budget.
  • Needs auditing enabled in the application for the categories you want to see.

Export Audit

Any view within the Audit Logs can be exported. EPM Commander writes the filtered results to a formatted new Excel worksheet for review, archival, or presentation to external auditors — and the export names any fallback it had to take rather than silently substituting.
