CaptainMCP Overview

CaptainMCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that acts as a natural language bridge between your AI tools (like Claude Desktop or Cursor) and Oracle EPM Cloud — covering both Planning and Financial Consolidation & Close (FCC).

Why CaptainMCP?

Traditional interactions with Oracle EPM involve navigating complex UIs, writing intricate Groovy scripts, or executing REST API calls manually. CaptainMCP exposes the Oracle EPM REST surface — jobs, data slices, metadata, security, Data Management, LCM snapshots, journals, and consolidations — as standardized MCP tools with built-in intelligence: a persistent member index resolves names and aliases instantly, and smart POV resolution builds valid grids without you memorizing dimensionality.

Safety is the core design: every write or destructive operation requires your explicit approval through a native dialog in your AI client — the model cannot approve its own actions. A read-only mode, opt-in security tools, and a full audit log round out the enterprise guardrails.
