Ribbon Reference

A complete reference for every group and button in the EPM Commander Excel ribbon. Select a section below to read the detailed user guide.

The ribbon is organized into functional groups, and adapts to your environment: groups appear based on your connection state and application type — Planning Controls shows for Planning applications, FCC Controls for Financial Consolidation and Close. The Home group covers sign-in, EPM connections, metadata sync, and settings — see Getting Started.

Home, Settings & Help

  • Sign In · EPM Connections · Sign Out — the Captain EPM account, saved environments with one-click switching, and a three-way sign-out (Captain EPM, EPM Cloud, or both).
  • Sync Metadata — pulls dimensions, cubes and members into the local snapshot. The dialog stays up until indexing has genuinely finished; the snapshot tables are empty for about two minutes mid-index, so closing early would show an empty application.
  • SettingsLLM Settings (provider, model, AI behaviour), Manage User Data (the Storage Manager: every artefact the add-in writes to the PC, what it is and what breaks if deleted, with protected items listed but never selectable), Appearance (fourteen themes, seven dark and seven light), and the AI Usage Monitor (tokens consumed and query history).
  • Help — Documentation, Connection & OAuth Setup (what an identity-domain administrator must configure for SSO/MFA, where the Client ID and Service Instance ID are found, and what each OAuth error means), Support (ticket and diagnostic logging), Captain's Log (the diagnostic agent that traces a root cause through your own tool execution history), and About. The bell carries release news and update notifications.
