Installation
System requirements and steps to install the EPM Commander Excel Add-in.
System Requirements
| Operating system | Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) |
| Excel | Microsoft 365 or Excel 2016+, Windows desktop edition (Excel for Mac / web not supported) |
| Runtime | .NET Framework 4.8 and the VSTO Runtime |
| WebView2 | Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen Runtime (preinstalled on Windows 11) |
| Privileges | Administrator rights — the add-in installs per-machine, for all users |
| Network | HTTPS access to your Oracle EPM Cloud instance; HTTPS to your LLM provider for AI features |
| Node.js (optional) | Only required if you connect external MCP servers to the AI Assistant |
Install Steps
- Download the latest installer from the sidebar or from your Captain EPM account.
- Right-click the
CaptainEPM.exefile and choose Run as administrator. The installer registers the add-in for all users on the machine. - Accept the Terms and Conditions.
- Restart Excel. The EPM Commander tab appears in the ribbon.
Updates are delivered through the built-in updater — you'll be notified in the ribbon when a new version is available.
Troubleshooting
- Tab missing after install: File → Options → Add-ins → Manage COM Add-ins → ensure Captain EPM is checked. If Excel disabled it after a crash, re-enable it under Disabled Items.
- Blank panels or windows: install the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen Runtime.
- Corporate proxy: EPM Commander uses the system proxy. Whitelist your
*.oraclecloud.comdomain and, if using AI, your LLM provider's API endpoint.
