Application Analysis
Tools for understanding what's inside your application — structure, health, and optimization opportunities.
App Analysis Reports (AI)
Eighteen report modules, application-aware: Approval Units appears only for Planning, App Diagnostics only for Planning and FreeForm, and three modules are FCC-only. Each is delivered as a branded PDF — your logo on a module-neutral cover — or written to Excel, and every AI-written narrative carries a disclosure stamp naming the model, the time and the environment. It cannot be switched off.
Universal modules
- Full Report — Executive review of the whole application — plan types, dimensions, security, forms, rules, dashboards, nav flows, task lists, configuration, variables, Data Management integrations, valid intersections, scheduled jobs — plus activity-report trend history. About a minute.
- Trends — Growth and performance over time from downloaded Activity Reports: database and index size, block counts and density, calc times per plan type, user load, errors. Anomalies plus quick-win, short-term and long-term recommendations.
- Metadata — Outline design review against Essbase best practice — storage choices, two-pass on ratios, member formulas, non-numeric types, level-0 members tagged Dynamic Calc without a formula. Account examined in full, other dimensions sampled, exact counts either way.
- Configurations — The settings actually declared in the snapshot — application type and calendar, currency mode, governor limits, enabled modules and feature switches.
- Objects — An object inventory written straight into Excel to filter and pivot. No on-screen report.
- Navigation Flows — The navigation taxonomy as end users experience it: clusters, cards and tabs in order, including hidden entries.
- Task Manager — Planning task lists and their tasks, with linked rule or form and owner.
- Application Stats — Artifact counts per folder plus Oracle’s own cube statistics from the latest Activity Report, with capacity and hygiene observations.
- App Diagnostics — Oracle’s own application diagnostics scan, downloaded and reviewed sheet by sheet: member-level design recommendations per dimension, form findings, rule timings, cube stats. Quick wins split from structural fixes. Planning and FreeForm only.
- Security — The whole posture end to end — live users, groups and role assignments over REST, plus the snapshot’s security model: dimensions with member security, the artifact ACL corpus, cell-level security, valid intersections, Data Management location security — closing with 30 days of activity. Each section degrades independently.
- Audit Records — Who changed what over a period you choose, live over REST: changes by artifact type and user, off-hours admin activity, notable configuration and security changes. Needs auditing enabled.
- Artifact Change History — Which artifacts changed in a chosen period and who changed them, plus LCM migration activity, read from Snapshot Modification History and recent Migration Status. Dates are day-granular. Requires Service Administrator.
- Integration Analysis — The full Data Management implementation — target apps, source systems, locations, import formats and field mappings, load rules, pipelines, member, category and period mappings, location security — enriched with seven days of live execution history.
- Job History — How jobs actually ran over 7, 30 and 60 days by rate: runs per day, success rate, failures, total run time, per-job timing trend. Reads the local Job Monitor history — nothing re-runs on the pod.
Planning only
- Approval Units — the approval inventory merged from the snapshot and live REST, including group-owned units the API alone will not return.
FCC only
- Close Cycle — How the close actually runs, cycle by cycle: on-time completion, how far late tasks overran, approval rejections, which tasks and assignees carry the late work, and whether the close is getting faster or slower month over month.
- Consolidation Design — Architecture review of what this implementation added to the seeded model: custom members per dimension, entity structure with base-currency spread and intercompany scope, account design, insertion-point rules, changed settings, approval hierarchies — judged against FCC conventions, not generic Essbase rules.
- Intercompany Matching — What does not match between IC partners and where it concentrates, from a saved IC Matching Report definition, over one period or a Year + Period range. One-sided breaks are separated from genuine disagreements. Computed, not model-written — complete with no AI provider; commentary is added on top when one is configured.
Toolbar and honesty rule
- Engine picker, a standing focus per module, report branding, and Excel and PDF export.
- Sections degrade independently. A pod that withholds a role report, or a snapshot with no Data Management, still produces everything else — and an unavailable source is named as unavailable rather than guessed at.
Release Report (AI)
Fetches Oracle's monthly EPM What's New document and rates each feature's impact on this environment, so the change that would have broken your close is found by the system, not by a user. A portfolio overview spans releases, and the Export warns when reports are still unanalyzed rather than exporting a blank.
Object Analysis
Trace application objects and their dependencies — see what a form, rule, or member touches before you change it. For a single member, right-click the cell and choose Inspect Member for its metadata and where-used.
Essbase Data Analysis (Block Analysis)
Scan BSO cubes for zero-value and empty blocks that waste calculation time:
- Runs the analysis from a cube export, building a full block index.
- POV block map — an interactive, drillable grid with a POV bar: navigate hierarchies dimension by dimension and see exactly where block density lives.
- Identify candidates for exclusion, clearing, or restructuring, and quantify the calc-performance payoff.
Unused Metadata Analyzer
Finds unused and level-0 members in BSO cubes — outline bloat that slows calculations and confuses users. Review candidates before cleanup.
Neural Graph
The whole application as a living graph — one cluster per plan type, a hue per object type, importance toward the centre, edge bundling and a flat mode above a density threshold, family filters, and a selection that shows a neighbourhood rather than a scatter. Select a rule and see every form that uses it. Open it beside the AI Assistant and the graph responds to the conversation: "show me only the business rules" re-forms the canvas.
IPM Insights Analyzer (AI-assisted)
Parses application-generated IPM insights from snapshots into a browsable board. For any insight you can:
- push its POV and metrics to a new worksheet, or
- send it to the AI Assistant with a root-cause framing — including a cross-insight digest that looks for patterns across all insights at once.
File Repository & Cleanup
Browse, download, and manage files stored in the EPM Cloud repository — migration files, outboxes, and log directories — with a guided cleanup tool to keep inbox/outbox storage tidy.
